Gary Viggers

In his 25 years of coaching, Coach Viggers has a wide range of experience from youth teams to the collegiate level.  He got his start as the head coach for the High School boys basketball program in Winlock, WA.  From there he went on to be assistant coach for the Centralia College men’s basketball program for four years.  After gaining that experience, he took over as the head coach of the women's program and over the next 12 seasons amassed a record of 253-103 which included six 20-win seasons.  He built up the program into one of the elite community college programs in the NWAACC.  During his tenure, his teams achieved a first place finish in the Western Division five times.  He was named Coach of the Year for the North West Athletic Association of Community Colleges in 2004, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2009.

His accomplishments as a player are equally impressive:  An All-American selection in 1991 while playing for Concordia University as well as a stand out high school multi-sport athlete and All-State basketball selection while at Centralia High School.

Coach Viggers has a passion for developing players “the right way”, a term he often uses with his teams. During his time at Centralia College, he’s sent 26 players to the NWAACC Sophomore All-Star game, 23 of his players have continued their careers at four-year schools, and six of the last eight NWAACC West Division MVPs have played for Centralia.  After stepping down from Centralia College in 2009, he has focused his energy on developing youth basketball players on both boys and girls teams which he has been doing for the past five years.
